no more poetry launch their 24th book, Libido Nightmare by Asha-Mae Chapman Ralph, with readings and sound by friends of the press.

Omniversal Hum: Vinod Prasanna, Pranav Ramji, Abby Sundborn, YL Hooi (dj)
Omniversal Hum presents the incredible Indian Classical bansuri (Indian bamboo flute) player Vinod Prasanna accompanied by Pranav Ramji on tabla. Vinod Prasanna is from a family with a rich tradition in bansuri playing which dates back many generations. He was taught by his uncle the great Pandit Rajendra Prasanna.
In support is Abby Sundborn performing solo electro-acoustic cello vibrations and YL Hooi on selected entrance music and interstitial sounds.
This event will be presented in the baithak tradition; floor seated, informal, intimate and focussed listening.

Static Vision pres. 'Me and my Victim' (2024)
Featuring one of the most monstrous personalities to grace the screen, Me and My Victim follows the tumultuous romance between its creators, Billy Pedlow and Maurane. In their feature debut, they have created a new genre using a blend of podcast-style audio recordings and visual fragments. Me and My Victim is like turning over a rock and witnessing a full ecosystem of bugs scattering in the light. It’ll make you cringe, but it’ll be hard to look away.

Market Day
Market Day at the Portal! Pop-ups, small businesses, makers, craftspeople, merchants of all kinds. Come peruse books, have a tarot reading, get your nails done. Sort of like a garage sale cross glittering market in an opium den, but wholesome. The vibes? Honest. Entry by donation.

Friday Evening Improvised Music
On Fridays, musicians will play live, improvised music in the Portal from ~5pm-7pm.
Pop by after, before or between work.

Day Music
Day Music presents an afternoon of rambling guitars and healing sounds. Brisbane sweeties Beagle Vortex, the guitar of Fin Healy, unknown soft ramblings of Frekcl, and the nighttime catharsis of 333 will fill the space. There will be treats and tea available at no extra cost. Entry is sliding scale ($10-$30) with all money being donated to Emerge leading research and support to people living with ME/CFS. Event starts from 4pm.

Building 7
Digital entities manipulate the fabric of time in ways not immediately revealed to the perceivers. What is the connection between Hello Kitty, Gyaru Culture, the disintegration of the western industrial base, Afro-Caribbean displacement and intelligent dance music? Do you see the signs? It will be revealed on the 21st of September, where a 21st century cabal of schizoidians usher in the hyperstitional revelation. Essentially: music and revelry. $10 tickets- available here.

angelicism: film.01
Portal will be hosting a screening of film01, the infamous internet movie, created by online enigma/egregore, angelicism. film01 is a different movie each time it screens, and we will be showing the paradise cut (histoires de l'internet), a 10 hour odyssey commencing from 5pm.
All welcome. Feel free to come and go throughout the film, there will be nourishment available.
The screening is not ticketed; entry is $10 on the door.

Absorb: Thought Makes Music
Absorb hosts an intimate, candlelit listening party in the Library for its next release - the highly anticipated debut LP by gi, the solo moniker of unbridled musician, performer, and lyricist Gigi De Lacy (Optic Nerve). The album, called Thought Makes Music is her farthest-reaching work, a conclusive vision and portal of its own. Mastered by Rashad Becker.

Omniversal Hum: Driftwood
Omniversal Hum: Driftwood (Aviva Endean & Nick Ashwood) Magic Steven, Nigel Yang (dj), Reba (dj)
A concert and storytelling low key high listening hangout in the Portal DIY library.
Microtonal avant-folk-drone, Driftwood consists of the multi-instrumentalists Aviva Endean and Nick Ashwood on pump organs, clarinets and guitar.
The highly captivating writer, story teller and general scene icon, Magic Steven will read some new work.
Nigel Yang (HTRK) and Reba will provide recorded music selected exclusively from their vinyl record collections.*
Free soup served up in a debut appearance from Chef Omni. It will be vegan and gluten free.

Winter Solstice Soirée
We warmly invite you to a winter solstice soirée on Friday 21 June from 6pm.
We're feeling cute and cosy, perhaps you are too. This soirée intends to satisfy those latent hibernatory desires bubbling beneath. We welcome all offerings towards this intention, be it music, books/readings, plushies, and other a-cute-trements. Choose your weapon or arm yourself from our shelves for some collective myth-making. Featuring JD, Phil Stroud, Isla, Giulia, Shelf Reading (Lia Dewey Morgan & JD), and more friends.

This Flower moon, the 24th May, will host the inaugural library party. Not-so-inaugural is the 24hr music from JD and friends that will see this event through. Join us for a bit of bacchanale. Featuring JD, Phil Stroud, Toni Yotzi, Thick Owens & Eek, Movie Real, Shelf Reading (Lia Dewey Morgan & JD), 11.11, and more friends.
